Out of the Box

Why "Jack Out of the Box"? It's simple. True change doesn't happen when you live life inside the box, meaningful impact comes when we challenge ourselves and the world around us. I love to get out of my bubble and travel, broaden my perspective and understanding, and push my own boundaries.
So let's get out there together.
Hi! I'm Jackie.
Out of the box thinking, out of the box living.

Where I'm Going

Ultimately, I am striving to combine my taste for program management with my drive to help people. Management engages me because it highlights many of my top skills and enjoyments (constructing, organizing, streamlining, facilitating, etc.) and allows for creativity and expansion. Development work, on the other hand, encapsulates my passion for helping people. I only feel fulfilled when I am generating a positive impact in the lives of others. Interested in knowing more?
Let's chat!

Where I've Been

After finishing my BA in International Studies, I spent the next two years traveling the world. One month after graduation, I jetted to France to study at a university for a semester. Then only one week after returning home, I hopped on a plane and journeyed to Taiwan where I worked for another six months teaching English. Fast forward to 2016, I experienced the biggest cultural whiplash yet when I arrived in Uganda where I would spend the spring and summer seasons working at a nonprofit called Foundation for Sustainable Development. Living on four different continents has certainly given me a unique perspective and blessed me with many valuable skills. I've gained cultural flexibility and sensitivity, and learned to love working in fluid, fast-paced environments. Not only does this give me more room for creativity and exploration, but it makes each day different and engaging. I love never knowing just what's going to happen next!

My Story

When I was a little girl I desperately wanted a dog (wait for it). I begged my parents and was always told "No, we can't have one because mom doesn't like them."So, I brainstormed and asked time and time again, always looking for a loophole. Finally, it came to me! "Dad... when mom dies, can we get a dog?!" I quickly learned that some solutions are better than others. (Sorry, mom!)

As you can see, I have always been a problem-solver. My
tenacity did not stop there and I persistently search for ways to achieve whatever goals I've set my mind to, (though  lucky for all of us my ideas have grown exponentially better). I also have an insatiable thirst for helping others and making an impact. This is what compels me to look at the issues in the world and think "I can help fix that".
