Au revoir, Montpellier!

Picture
Salut tout le monde!

I’ve been meaning to write one last Montpellier blog post to wrap up my experiences in France, but with Christmas and everything, life just got too hectic. So, here we go!

Christmastime is Here

Bonjour!

I can’t believe it has been a month since I have last written! Everything has been pretty calm in my life, and I am starting to prepare to come home. I can’t wait to be back in Denver! I am so ready for snow, Christmas lights, and homemade cinnamon rolls. I’m a little bummed that I will only get to be there for a week, but at least I’ll be there for Christmas!

Those Small, Simple Moments

Picture
Salut, tout le monde!

Well, my posts are coming further and further apart. I don’t know if this is a sign that I am too preoccupied with other things, or that my life has become increasingly less interesting.

Who Moved My Underwear?!

Picture
Salut à tous!

I’m sorry I didn’t get around to writing last week, there were lots of tests coming up so life got a little crazy. Plus, I secretly didn’t feel like writing because I’ve been missing the States a little bit this month. Fall is my favorite season and Halloween is one of my favorite holidays because I love all of the pre-Halloween festivities, like pumpkin carving and haunted mazes. It’s not really celebrated here, though, so I’m a little bummed that I’m missing everything. But, I was pretty ecstatic to receive a package from my Momma-Bear containing tons of Halloween decorations and festive surprises, so it all works out! Man, I just love my family more than words can describe.

Washed Away

Bonjour, tout le monde!

Well, this weekend we experienced some sort of cool of French holiday. I’m not going to lie, I’m still not sure what we were celebrating, but most of the shops downtown had huge 50% off sales, so that’s really all that matters, right? Just kidding. I’ve heard that this is a holiday used to officially wave farewell to the summer now that the fall season has begun, and since autumn is my favorite time of year, I am more than willing to say goodbye to summer!

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Bonjour, tout le monde!

I’m sorry I didn’t post anything last week! We've had some storms recently, and some of them have been a little intense, like the one yesterday that caused the city to flood and all of the public transportation to stop running. Walking home in the middle of that was... interesting. Toward the end of last week, though, there was quite a bit of wind which damaged some cables. It took the internet company a few days to fix it, and by the time they did, it made more sense to just combine the weeks 4 and 5 posts together. Don’t worry, though, you really didn’t miss anything! Right now I’m flipping through my journal entries from the last couple of weeks, and almost every one of them starts out saying something along the lines of “nothing particularly special happened today…” or “it’s been a fairly unremarkable day…” so I apologize if this post is only made up of boring little details about my life. Then again, I guess that's what a blog is.

Mes Petits Choux

Bonjour, tout le monde!

Three weeks down, fourteen to go! I survived my first week of school, which really wasn’t bad at all. I was happy to find that I like my teachers and my classmates. I have made a couple of good friends so far! My new friends Valentina (from Columbia) and Lieselotte (from Belgium) are particularly great.

Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert

Bonjour, tout le monde!

Two weeks down, fifteen to go, and I’m still loving it! Classes are finally starting tomorrow, so that will be a whole new adventure. I was placed in one of the intermediate levels, which means that I scored high enough to take some elective courses while I’m here. I’m not sure what my course options are, but I am pretty jazzed about that!

Who Needs Pants?

Bonjour, tout le monde!

I'm at the start of my four-month adventure in Montpellier, France, and I have about one week down, sixteen to go! There have been many pleasant surprises, as well as a few... less pleasant surprises. But that's what adventure is all about!
