Bonjour, tout le monde!
Three weeks down, fourteen to go! I survived my first week of school, which really wasn’t bad at all. I was happy to find that I like my teachers and my classmates. I have made a couple of good friends so far! My new friends Valentina (from Columbia) and Lieselotte (from Belgium) are particularly great.
Classes are going well. My language classes are fairly straightforward, and I have one teacher that I really like a lot. She is very sweet and easy to understand, and her teaching style seems to complement my learning style really well. My other teachers are very nice, too. One of them has long patches of hair that stick up and curl a little bit on the side of his head, and then there is a long balding patch running right down the middle. That, combined with his somewhat sever eyebrows, makes him look just like a koala! Maybe he’s an animorph…
Friday was a particularly good day. I had classes until 12:30 and then spent the day wandering around town with Valentina. We visited some of the touristy sites here in town since she hadn’t had a chance to do that yet. We also ate McDonald’s! Don’t judge. We figured we should at least try it once while we are here, just to see what sorts of differences there are. It was mostly the same, except for the fact that a medium-sized drink here even smaller than a small in the US, which is gets a little bit frustrating when you walk around in the heat and get thirsty. My only complaint about this beautiful place is that drinks here are kind of expensive when you are out and about in busy places. Anyway, we enjoyed a peaceful, relaxing day in town, and then we met up with Lieselotte later that evening and went dancing. We danced our hearts out, and it was the perfect end to the first week of classes!
Well, I will say goodbye for now. I hope you all have a wonderful week!
